Located about 130 kms from Jaipur, Ranthambore National Park is India's most popular National park. Formerly known as the hunting ground of Former Maharaja of Jaipur. Ranthambhore got its state of National park in 1973 and is listed under PROJECT TIGER. The park offers great chance to see wild tigers and probably world's best place to watch the wild tigers. Ranthambore National park offers a great birding with the list of around 300 species. The park has got five lakes which is excellent habitat for water birds Ranthambore National park is a small oasis located between Vindachal and Aravial Ranges of central India. The forest formational at Ranthambore National park is mainly tropical, dry, decidous and dry throne forest. The surrounding of N.P is semi desert and steep clips. The Nearest town to Ranthambore is Sawai Madhopur and the xcess of National park is by jeeps or by canters (20 seaters) There are some great birding destination around Ranthambhore which can be visited without permits. Soorwal Reseviour is a semi deserted area, the water body holds pallicians or indian skimmer, ashy crowned sparrow lark, rufous tiled shrike. There is another lake called Manasarovar which is a lovely destination for water birds like Little Heron, Red crested Pochard, comb duck with the chance of a Greater Flamingo or near threatened Black Ibis Birding list of the Ranthambore includes following such as Oriental Darter, Cormorants Egrets and Herons, Painted, Wooly necked and black necked storks, Black headed Ibis, Eurasian Spoonbill, Cotton Pygmy - goose, Oriental Honey Buzzard, northern Goshawk, Besra, Bonelli's, steppe, greater and lesser spotted eagles, read - headed vulture, black, short - toed snake and crested serpent eagles, Red headed vulture, Osprey Painted and Grey Francolins, Indian peafowl, Pheasent tailed and bronze winged jacans, greater painted snipe, great thick knee & other waders, river 7 black bellied terns, Yello footed green pigeon, red collared dove, Alexandrine and plum headed Parakeets, Pied & common Hawk Cuckoos scops owls, Strok billed kingfisher, Indian grey hornbill, Eurasian Wryneck, Black rumped Flameback & long tailed Shrikes, Common woodshrike, Yellow footed green pegion, red collared dove, dusky eagles, brown fish, spotted creeper, olive backed pipit, Baya & streaked weaver, indian silverbill, scaly breasted munia and many more.......... Apart from great birding Ranthambhore National park is well know for its mammals sighting. The list of Mammals found in Ranthambore National park are Spotted deer, Samber, nilgai, wild boar, grey languar, marsh crocodile, leopards, tigers, chinkara, jackle or mongoose, sloth bear, striped hyaena, Indian pangolin, wild cats and many more............
