Birding In Goa


Goa is India's smallest state in terms of area and the fourth smallest in terms of population. Located on the west coast of India in the region known as the Konkan, it is bounded by the state of Maharashtra to the north, Karnataka to the east and south and the Arabian Sea forms its western coast.Variously known as "Rome of the East", "Tourist Paradise" and "Pearl of the Orient", the state of Goa is located on the western coast of India in the coastal belt known as Konkan. With the blessing of secnic beauty from mother nature Goa provides the best birding destination. Approx 250 species of birds are noted at this place which includes common hawki cuckoos, grey bvellied cuckoos, drongo cuckoos, indian swiftlet, creasted treeswift, chestnut headed flameback, brown capped pygmy woodpecker, heartspottewd woodpecker, indian pitta, Dusky crag martin, wire tailed swallows, eurasian golden and black hooded orioles, ashy and white bellied bronzed spangled and greater racket tailed drongos, bar winged flycatcher shrike, large and common woodshrikes, black headed cuckooshrike, large and common woodshriokes, golden fronted leafbird, asian fairy bluebird etc. India Birding tours have tried to summerize the few of the birding destination of Goa
